Integrated Storage Technology

The core of MailStore Server is made up of an extremely advanced storage technology that does not require any external database software and can be used immediately after installation. Based on this foundation, a single MailStore Server installation can efficiently and easily manage a rapidly growing email volume for years. If you wish to use MailStore Server with significantly more users, we recommend that you contact our technical support team to discuss your individual scenario.

Integrated Storage Technology

Efficient Data Storage

High Scalability

  • You can internally create a complete archive from the user's perspective using any number of individual archive databases
  • If the archive storage used for archiving new emails approaches its storage limits, a new archive storage can be automatically created and made available on the file system
  • This concept provides flexible storage management and guarantees scalability for large volumes of data

Up to 70% Storage Space Savings

  • MailStore Server uses deduplication to reduce overall storage requirements
  • This means that identical MIME parts (e.g., file attachments) are stored only once in the archive, even if they appear multiple times in users' mailboxes
  • File attachments are also compressed

More Features

Flexible Storage Management

Fast storage hardware (e.g., SSD) is generally more expensive than slower hardware (e.g., HDD). MailStore allows you to balance costs according to business needs. You can store frequently accessed archive storages on fast storage, while less frequently accessed archive storages can be moved to slower storage.

Protection Against Tampering

MailStore Server uses state-of-the-art encryption by applying SHA hashes and AES256 encryption to email texts and file attachments. This helps protect archived data from tampering.

Optional: Using SQL Server

If desired, companies that already have their own infrastructure can also use Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL for data storage.
