Secure Access to Email Archive via IMAP
Email archiving solutions' critical feature is end-user access to email archives, as it significantly increases productivity and user experience. MailStore Server and MailStore Service Provider Edition offer a popular Outlook Add-in, sensitive Web Access, MailStore Client, and an additional fourth option: an IMAP server integrated into MailStore Server for archive access.
This type of archive access comes with a concrete limitation that must be considered when choosing the appropriate access method - only ready access is possible via the IMAP server. In other words, regardless of the user's rights, this option does not allow users to carry, download, or even delete their emails. However, the IMAP server offers a number of advantages that can be very helpful depending on the user scenario:
- No installation is required. As a result, any email client that supports IMAP mailboxes can guarantee access to the MailStore archive.
- Therefore, end users who do not have a Windows device can access their archives via their preferred email clients such as Apple Mail (for Mac OS) or Gmail (for Android). For these users, an additional option is access via Web Access, which is possible through any browser currently available on the market.
- Windows users who work with an alternative email client instead of Outlook (such as Mozilla Thunderbird) can easily access their archives in this way.
Incidentally, Version 11, recently launched to the market, allows access only via TLS encrypted connections.
