MailStore Server - SMTP Settings
To be able to send emails, MailStore Server requires SMTP access data. MailStore sends email notifications if product updates are available or if the automatic creation of a new archive repository fails. Additionally, email copies can be sent via SMTP for restoration from MailStore Web Access.

Administrative Tools > Various > SMTP Settings you can specify the SMTP settings.
- Start MailStore Client and log in as the MailStore administrator (admin).
- Click on Administrative Tools > Various and then click on SMTP Settings.
- Under Server, enter the hostname or IP address of the SMTP server.
- By default, MailStore uses port 587. If you want to use a different port, enter the port number in the Port field.
- In the Protocol field, select SMTP for an unencrypted connection. For an encrypted connection, select SMTP-TLS or SMTP-SSL. If the certificate provided by the remote host cannot be verified (for example, if it is self-signed or signed by an unknown certificate authority), enable the Accept All Certificates option to allow MailStore to connect. This option may result in an insecure configuration, and warnings may appear in the summary and/or panel.
- Especially SMTP servers that are accessible via the Internet require login (SMTP authentication). Check the relevant checkbox and enter the appropriate access credentials. In most cases, POP3 access credentials for any user on the email server can be used.
- Under From, enter the sender's Displayed Name and Email Address. Many SMTP servers require entering an existing email address. The displayed name can be freely selected; ideally, it should indicate that the email was sent from the MailStore Server.
- Under Recipient for Notifications, enter the recipient's email address for administrative notifications from MailStore Server. To specify multiple recipients, separate them with commas.
- After all settings are specified, you can instruct MailStore Server to send a test email to the entered email address for notifications; simply click Apply and Test.
- If no error message appears but the email does not arrive, please check the spam or junk mail folder of the mailbox. The email may have been filtered.
- If an error message appears due to an invalid certificate ("The server's certificate was rejected by the validator because of an unknown certificate authority"), select Accept All Certificates and try again.
- If an error message appears stating "One or more recipients were rejected," the SMTP server most likely requires authentication. Enter the appropriate access credentials as described above.
- If an error message appears due to invalid access credentials ("Wrong authentication data" or "Authentication failed"), verify the entered data. In most cases, access credentials match those of the corresponding POP3 server.
- If other error messages appear or if other issues arise, please check your entries for possible errors.
