New Features in MailStore Version 26.1

With MailStore 26.1, you can look forward to new archiving profiles with Microsoft Graph, improvements in the Management API, and many other developments. Additionally, we are preparing for the end of support for external databases (PSQL, MSQL) and MailStore Proxy.

New Archiving Profiles with Microsoft Graph

Microsoft has announced that support for Exchange Web Services (EWS) for Exchange Online will no longer be available as of October 1, 2026. To prepare our customers for this change, MailStore 26.1 introduces new archiving profiles that already use Microsoft Graph, enabling future-proof email archiving. Learn more here.

Improvements to the Management API – Especially Interesting for MailStore SPE Customers

Version 26.1 includes some improvements to the Management API. Connecting to Microsoft 365/Entra ID and certificates (credentials) for MailStore Cloud Export can now be managed and updated remotely. This is particularly beneficial for managed service providers who manage customer examples on behalf of their customers.

Early Notice: External Databases (PSQL, MSQL) and MailStore Proxy Support Will Be Phased Out Soon

Security and performance are top priorities for MailStore. Therefore, we have decided to remove support for Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MailStore Proxy from MailStore Server by the end of 2026. This will reduce potential security risks and simplify the system architecture. The built-in database provides fast and reliable access to all your archived data. Please check online help and prepare for the migration of external databases. Customers still using MailStore Proxy (our old internal SMTP gateway) should review our migration recommendations to MailStore Gateway.

To facilitate and simplify the transition, especially for MailStore Server customers, archive stores can now be transferred from one location to another. It is even possible to merge archive stores via the API. This makes it easier to move data from external archive stores.

Some Small but Useful Improvements

There are a few small improvements that will be appreciated by MailStore users and administrators. For example, the status bar in the MailStore Client now shows the number of selected messages and the name of the logged-in user. We have added the number of archived emails per profile to the status report, thereby providing better visibility into archiving activities. To further enhance security, when an administrator changes a user's password, all active sessions for that user are terminated. Changing your own password will terminate all active sessions except for the current user. Lastly, since software security and reliability are top priorities for MailStore, we have fixed some errors and updated several third-party libraries.

Updated Certification: Meeting Data Privacy Requirements

As usual, the latest version of MailStore Server and MailStore SPE, version 26.1, has been certified by an independent data privacy expert.

The certification takes into account all relevant aspects of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and confirms that both MailStore Server and MailStore SPE meet all requirements for processing personal data as defined by GDPR when used appropriately.
