New Features in MailStore Version 24.2

MailStore V24.2 brings many new features that administrators and users of our email archiving solutions, MailStore Server, MailStore SPE, MailStore Gateway, and MailStore Home, will be eagerly looking forward to. The detailed new features are as follows:

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Synchronized Users

Once again, we have enhanced the security of our software. In version 24.2, multi-factor authentication can be enabled not only for local users but also for synchronized users (without OpenID Connect).

Restricting Login Operations to Specific Clients

With V24.2, the login option can be restricted to specific client types. Therefore, administrators can specify whether a user is allowed to access via a Windows client, Outlook add-in, web browser, IMAP protocol, command-line client, or management API.

IRM Protected Messages Can Be Archived in Unencrypted Format

Previously, emails could only be archived in an encrypted format when using Microsoft 365 message encryption (IRM) and journaling. With MailStore V24.2, these emails can be archived, viewed, and searched as plain text. A prerequisite here is that the journal report password must be configured via the "JournalReportDecryptionEnable" setting in Exchange administration.

Updated Database

To ensure that all our software features continue to work seamlessly, we have updated the internal database engine of our software. When MailStore V24.2 is installed, the main database will be automatically updated; however, you will need to manually update your archive storage in MailStore Server and MailStore Service Provider Edition using the appropriate buttons.

Other Improvements and Bug Fixes

In addition, we have made several small improvements and bug fixes aimed at enhancing the overall user experience. These include implementing a refresh button in the MailStore Gateway web console, renaming Azure AD to Microsoft Entra ID, and adding corrective information to specific input fields (for example, when assigning email domain names during MailStore Gateway configuration or when assigning archive names in MailStore Server or SPE).

Additionally, we have fixed the issue where administrators authenticating via OpenID Connect could not change archive access and password policy compliance settings.

It is also worth mentioning that we have updated the web access framework (Angular v17) to keep our technology up-to-date. This is an important factor in terms of product security.

Please note that support for Internet Explorer ends with Version 24.2.

Updated Certification: Meeting Data Privacy Requirements

As usual, the latest version of our software, MailStore Server and MailStore SPE Version 24.2, has been approved by an independent data privacy expert.

The certification takes into account all relevant aspects of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and confirms that both MailStore Server and MailStore SPE meet all the requirements specified in GDPR for processing personal data when used appropriately.
